Early Relationship, Womb experience and Personality Formation

A Two-Part Series with Franklyn Sills In these two presentations, we orient to the nature of early relationship and felt-experience as the underpinning of personality formation and sense of selfhood. We  also explore the importance of our time in our mother’s womb and “umbilical affect” as the root of these experiences. In these talks, we are looking at the work of some early British psychoanalysts who dramatically broke away from Freud, shifting from “pleasure seeking” to the importance of early relationship. These include the work of Donald Winnicott, Ronald Fairbairn and Frank Lake.
